I have had many holes in mine but when a person pours a good one , it is all worth. I would add a little more bentonite to the sand mixture. pour in the borax while in the furnace, give another jolt of heat and pour instantly. That brass cools quick and I think thats what happened with the first bell

Sulfuric acid can be recycled dude! Your operation is crude, unsafe and probably not worth all the time you put in for each battery.

Wow! That needed to be properly recycled by someone with knowledge of safety equipment. And if you refuse to wear a respirator, safety glasses, proper gloves that don’t trap particle of lead in them, then at least put a warning on the front stating that you are doing this with no care for your or anyone else’s safety by blowing lead dust everywhere.

That case is worth around a 1/4 dollar a piece in 2024. ;) My favorite is to turn US silver dimes into silver bells. A friend has the tools to flatten and a bell die to form them. The dies work with sheet brass as well and you can turn those cases into sheets fairly easily but the thicker bells sound nicer.

I appreciate this video because I've broken down exactly one car battery and it was the nastiest thing I've ever worked on. I'll never do it again. Honestly nobody should do it, but every scrapper SHOULD watch a few videos like this to understand why they shouldn't do it. It's a ton of work to recycle a box full of toxic gunk and metal!

electrolyte full of lead. The powder you shake off is lead oxide and is toxic, as is the smoke. Add charcoal powder to crucible to reduce oxide to metal lead.

I sure hope no one follows his lead and tries this. Apart from seeing videos of naive people making homemade guns out of pipe, a piece of wood and wire, this is the most dangerously irresponsible video I have seen on You Tube. Now, if there is a huge hood with an exhaust fan over the work area that we can't see and the guy is dressed up in a Hazmat suit with a separate air supply it might be OK but I suspect what we see is what was used. I worked for 30 years in a 50s era power plant and was exposed to every carcinogen known to man. This was before they knew asbestos was harmful and we walked through clouds of asbestos dust when a steam pipe ruptured. Now our wives (including mine) and most of my work friends are dropping like flies from cancer. I was at the gym with 5 of my work partners after we retired, 4 out of 5 of us had lost wives to cancer and we wondered what we took home on our clothes. The bottom line; don't take the kind of chances depicted in this video.
